Karthi celebrating his birthday today. His graduating from New York State University in Industrial Engineering, Karthi's career began as a consultant in an engineering firm in Chennai. Soon, he grew tired of the job and joined director Mani Ratnam's crew.

Ameer's Paruthi Veeran script greatly impressed Karthi. He understood the hard work he had to put in for the role; liking the challenge and adventure involved, he took up the offer. His performance in Paruthi Veeran received wide appreciation. More than two years after his debut in Paruthi Veeran, Karthi's next release was Aayirathil Oruvan. Though the movie received mixed responses, there is no doubt his performance in the movie was stupendous and the movie is an important chapter in Tamil cinema.

Then came Paiyya, a complete image makeover for the handsome hunk, from an uncouth rural youth in Paruthi Veeran to the utterly sophisticated software professional in Paiyya.

Suseendaran's Naan Mahan Alla and Siruthai established him as one of the most bankable heroes in Kollywood today. Karthi is all set to tie the knot on July 3, 2011. The bride-to-be is Renjini, an MA gold medalist from Stella Maris College, Chennai. Renjini is the daughter of Chinna Samy and Jyothi Meenakshi from Erode district. His next project is a political thriller Saguni with Shriya Saran.

Karthi Sivakuamr will go for a get-up change in ‘Saguni’, his forthcoming film which will be directed by newcomer Sankar Dayal. “It will be a pleasant surprise to his fans,” sources say.

A satire, ‘Saguni’ is about a youngster who tries his best to reform the society. “Sankar Dayal wanted Karthi sport a new look and the actor was game for it. The output has satisfied everyone,” they add.

Saying that Karthi’s looks in the movie would remind young Sivakumar, sources further say: “A dedicated actor that he is, Karthi is doing a lot of homework these days to get his act right in Sakuni.”

Apparently confirming this, Karthi says, “I am not a method actor. But would try to give me best to the character I play. Thankfully I am getting opportunities to play a variety of roles.”
Many top directors and production houses were fighting for Karthi's call sheet to do his next film after the super hit Siruthai. However, Karthi has sprung a surprise, he has decided to do a film with a debutant director Shankar Dayal!

Who is Shankar Dayal? He is a former associate of Ezhil, and he has come out with a script that impressed Karthi. The star who has been hearing story narrations from some leading directors, finally zeroed in on Dayal's script which is "fresh innovative and within the commercial format".

The untitled film will be produced under his home banner Studio Green of Gnanavel Raja, and the shoot will start from April second week. A photo shoot will take place in the next couple of days.

Who will play heroine opposite Kollywood's fastest rising star? As per the grapevine, Tapasee is the frontrunner at the moment, though some others are also being considered. GV prakash is likely to be the music director.

If Paiyaa theatrical collections crossed Rs 20 crore plus, Siruthai has already collected over Rs 30 Crore! Among the younger lot of heroes only Vijay and Suriya films have done such business.

It has made the five film old Karthi one of the hottest stars in Kollywood. Big producers have been after him to do a film with them and are offering him Rs 7 to 8 Crore to do a film, as he has an opening.

Says a leading producer who has approached him for a film: "I'm willing to pay Karthi any amount, if he signs on the dotted line, as he is worth it. A bad film like Siruthai worked at the box-office only due to Karthi's star pulling power."

Meanwhile Karthi the smart guy he is, has done half a dozen interviews with prospective directors who have narrated mass masala stories to him. The shrewd businessman in Karthi has emerged as he will be producing his next film under his home banner Studio Green, run by his cousin Gnanavel Raja.

As per Kollywood grapevine, Karthi has heard a "fantastic masala story with lots of action, comedy and sentiments" from Mappillai director Suraj, and feels it has a potential. As per trade sources, Karthi will
start shoot for the Suraj film under Studio Green banner immediately and will complete it under 100 days, for an August release!
Its good news for movie buffs waiting for the release of the Karthi starrer Naan Mahaan Alla. The film is almost complete and is expected to be released in August. Given the fact that we celebrate our Independence Day on August 15th the film may be released on that weekend (August 13th).
Karthi’s on screen pair in this film is Kajal Agarwal. Naan Mahaan Alla is directed by Suseendran of the Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu fame. The music is scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
