Mani Ratnam's most ambitious project Raavan is all set to hit screens on June. The film, made simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu, is titled Raavanan in Tamil and Villan in Telugu.
The audio launch of the Telugu and Tamil versions will take place on April 30, 2010. Sony Music has bagged the Tamil-Telugu audio rights of the film, which has music composed by Oscar winner A.R. Rahman. Raavanan stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Prithviraj and Priyamani in the lead roles.
Enquiries in Kollywood revealed that Kaavalkaran the Tamil remake of the Malayalam hit film Bodyguard is a short-term project. The film’s shooting had begun a month ago and had been moving on at a rapid speed. Going by the words of industry sources, Kaavalkaran could be completed in June or July.
Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay, who plays the male lead in this film, will then move on to a project that is to be directed by Jayam Raja and produced by Aascar Films. If everything falls in place, Raja and Vijay would begin the project once the latter completes the Kaavalkaran assignment.
Meanwhile, there is a buzz going on that Vijay will don one of the roles in the remake of 3 Idiots. This film’s Tamil rights have been procured by Gemini Film Circuit. It is worth mentioning here that Vijay had expressed his desire to work in this remake when his fans wanted to know if he would.
After sharing the spot light along with Abishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai for his scintillating performances in ‘Raavanan’, Cheeyan Vikram is back at work in Chennai.
While waiting for the accolades Vikram is also preparing for his new film with director Boopathy Pandian. The new Cheeyan film is now titled ‘Vedi’ and appropriately Vikram will explode as a police officer a la ‘Samy’.
This Mohan Natarajan production is about an intelligent investigative police officer, who wins the baddies with brain and brawn. Boopathy Pandian is known for pacy films that cater to the masses and with an equally peppy actor in Vikram ‘Vedi’ will explode at the box office.
Ileana plays the heroine to Vikram and the producer plans to dub and release the film simultaneously in Telugu also. As an advantage to that Tollywood comedian Brahmanandam and Kota Sreenivasa Rao play pivotal roles. Actor Aadhi’s father and a popular Telugu director Ravi Raja is also getting introduced as a villain giving company to Kota. More over Devi Sri Prasad, who is equally popular in Tamil and Telugu is scoring the music.
The first schedule of ‘Vedi’ is starting in the second week of June after Vikram comes out of the magic charm of ‘Raavanan’.
Jeeva is the busiest actor today with offers landing on his lap from left right and center. The first coveted offer this year came from director K V Anand who replaced Silambarasan with Jeeva in his 'Ko' film. Now director Kannan who gave two successive hits in ‘Jayam Kondaan’ and ‘Kanden Kadhalai’ has also opted for Jeeva for his third.
This Kannan film was to be done by Bharath at first, But Bharath who has already committed the film of ‘Mazhai’ director Naveen Rajkumar could not spare dates and the so offer landed up on Jeeva. Kannan has titled his film 'Vanthaan Ventraan'. The highlight of the movie is going to be the first time teaming up of Jeeva and Tamannah.
The shooting of 'Ko' is fast progressing in Pudhuchery and the film is expected to be completed by July. Jeeva will start working on 'Vanthaan Ventraan' from the first week of August according to sources.

It has been confirmed that Sura will hit the marquee on April 30th. The film went in for Censor certification and has emerged out with a clean U.
Sura, which is Vijay’s 50th film, is directed by SP Raj Kumar and produced by Sangili Murugan. Tamannah, the leading lady of Sura, has been paired up with the Ilayathalapathy for the first time.
Industry sources say that the movie would be surefire success as it has been acquired for distribution by Sun Pictures.
The audio of this film was launched a few weeks ago and has already turned out to be chartbusters. The music for Sura has been scored by Mani Sharma and the album comprises six songs.
After Success of ‘Goa’ Venkat Prabhu announced his new film ‘Poochandi’ for this year. The film will be produced by T Siva of Amma Creations and have Premji and Shiva in lead roles. Venkat’s lucky mascot music director Yuvan Shankar Raja and cinematographer Sakthi Saravanan are also par of the new film.
Meanwhile there is another news also doing rounds. Sources say Venkat Prabhu is also signing a film for the banner Cloud 9 Movies. Cloud 9 Movies is on a roll and has announced a series of big budget productions. Whether Venkat Prabhu will take up Cloud 9 Movies before ‘Poochandi’ is yet to be seen. Let’s wait for an official announcement from Venkat Prabhu.

Earlier, Raj Kiran was signed up to play Asin’s dad in the film. The news now is that Roja will pair up with Raj Kiran to play the leading lady’s mom. This means, Raj Kiran and Roja will be Vijay’s parents-in-law in Kaavalkaran.
After Asal film Ajith commit on Cloud Nine Productions directed by Gautham, Asal not well in box office so ajith take a long break in between these days Gautham Menon is working on the remake of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaain Hindi Versions. There are reports that he will retain all the technicians of VTV including Manoj Paramahamsa.
All the songs of VTV, which was set to tune by AR Rahman has turned out to be a mega hit. Gautham has, therefore, decided to make use of the same set of songs for the Hindi version. In addition to it, Rahman will score two more songs for the film.
Gautham has been reported as saying that Ajith’s project will commence after he is done with the Hindi version of VTV.

Captain TV, a long time dream of DMDK president Vijayakanth and his party cadre has become a reality today, with the television channel starting its telecast this morning.
The channel was formally launched by the actor-politician in the wee hours of today at Vaanagaram, a suburb of Chennai. His wife Premalatha, close aides and senior officials of the television channel were present on the occasion.
“Films, movie-based programmes, news bulletins, reality shows, awareness programmes, serials and sting operations will be presented to the viewers in a nice package. Captain TV will not be your usual television channel,” says L K Sudeesh, the chief executive officer.
“We have roped in citizen journalists in most of the Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu to provide us with news and happening,” he says and adds: “We have got the telecast rights of more than 100 films.”

Prabhu Deva is currently working on ‘Ich’ with ‘Jayam’ Ravi and Hansika Motwani as the heroine, but he also wants the beautiful Katrina Kaif from Bollywood to be part of it too!
Prabhu Deva is busy doing home work for ‘Ich’. He is penciling the fair draft of the screenplay of ‘Ich’, and while doing it, sources say that a sensuous romantic song has come up and it may need an actress who is really beautiful.
Having directed the remake of ‘Pokkiri’ in Hindi with Salman as ‘Wanted’, Prabhu Deva had the opportunity to acquaint himself with Katrina Kaif, beau of Salman. He found her really beautiful and someone who’ll have a great presence on screen.
When ‘Ich’ demanded a song that will require someone stunning, Prabhu Deva thought of introducing her to the Tamil audience. Sources say the romantic song might be shot in Paris.
Katrina has acted in a few Telugu movies and if this song shapes up, she’ll make her entry in Tamil filmdom as well. Sources further add that Prabhu Deva is waiting for Katrina to confirm her dates and he is currently discussing the song with her.

Like Bala even Ameer is one director who could change the image of a hero and put him on the fast track for the better. ‘Mounam Pesiyathey’ Suriya, ‘Ram’ Jeeva, ‘Paruthiveeran’ Karthi they all had the biggest break in their careers with the films of Ameer. Even Ameer was continuously critical of mass heroes self praising characterisation and attitudes in films. But after his own ‘Yogi’ bombed Ameer has changed and is seems to be moving towards mainstream popular cinema.
So when he was expected to start the different ‘Kannabiraan’ with ‘Jayam’ Ravi, Ameer boarded the popular wagon and launched ‘Adhibagavan’ which he calls a commercial entertainer. Going further in his move towards entertaining cinema Ameer has expressed his strong desire to do a film with Vijay.
Speaking at a film function recently Ameer said that after ‘Mounam Pesiyathey’ it was Vijay who he approached with a story. It could not happen for some good reasons and Tamil audience had the wonderful opportunity to see films like ‘Ram’ and ‘Paruthiveeran’ from Ameer. But Ameer still wanted to do a film with Vijay. It may soon materialise sooner than expected because Vijay's father SAC has given positive signals to Ameer.
If Ameer and Vijay join hands what would you want the film to be? A Ameer film or A Thalapathi film?

The shooting of Dhanush starrer Maapillai was proceeding at full pace at a village near Tirunelveli when one of the tractor used for the shoot went berserk and injured four people. Dhanush made a visit to the hospital to meet the injured and offered his support.
A song was being shot with Dhanush and Hansika when the accident took place. It was a lucky escape for the heroine claims the unit.
The shooting was cancelled following the accident and has been postponed indefinitely.
The film is directed by Suraaj and is produced by V Hitesh Jhabak. The music for the film is scored by Mani Sharma.
Declared already as a hit, collection reports of Lingusamy's 'Paiyaa' suggest the film is all set to become a blockbuster. Ever since the Karthi-Tamannah starrer hit screens Friday last, it has been running packed houses all over Tamil Nadu, theatre sources say.
Rave reviews from the media and aggressive marketing strategies by Dhayanidhi Alagiri, who had acquired the release rights, have been drawing crowds to cinema halls screening 'Paiyaa', we learn.
"Expectations of those who come to theatres are thoroughly fulfilled by Lingusamy and his team. Most of the scenes are received by the audience with huge applause," say sources.
"Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is no doubt an asset to the film," they say and add: "Youngsters are seen dancing for most of the numbers with Adadada Mazhada topping the list."
On performance by the lead actors, sources say, "Karthi's aggressive acting and cool looks have won the appreciation of many while Tamannah steals the show with her stunning looks and expressions. The chemistry they share on screen is great."
