Tamil Nadu theatre owners and distributors convened an emergency meeting on May 22 in Chennai and unanimously decided to demand that Ilayathalapathi Vijay refund a portion of the money they put up for his 50th film Sura, which bombed at the box office. They wanted the actor to refund at least 40% of the amount that they had paid as MG (Minimum Guarantee).

Now the actor has replied by working on two films simultaneously: Kaavalkaran and Velayutham. Vijay is also planning to start a third film (remake of 3 Idiots) by August. Reportedly Vijay will have two heroines—Genelia and Hansika—in Velayutham and will play a fictitious man of the masses created by a female journalist. The film is rumoured to be a remake of Nagarjuna’s Telugu hit Azad (2000), which was inspired from Amitabh Bachchan’s 1989 flop Main Azad Hoon, which was again inspired from Frank Capra’s 1941 classic Meet John Doe!
Vijay fans have something to cheer this month and this about the launch of audio of his latest movie ‘Sura’.
‘Sura’ is directed by Rajkumar and produced by Murugan Cine Arts' Sangili Murugan. It is already the buzz in the industry, as it is Vijay's 50th film. Though Vijay is the hero, the hero on March 26th would be music director Mani Sharma who is the busiest music director in both Tamil and Telugu. Mani Sharma and Vijay have worked together in many occasions before, for example ‘Shajahan’, ‘Youth’, ‘Pokkiri’, ‘Thirupachi’, etc.
All these have been super hits, and let us hope ‘Sura’ will be included in that list.
Vadivelu is taking care of the comedy in the movie and the heroine is pretty girl Tamannah. It will be an interesting sight to see her dance with the energetic Vijay.

As the release is getting nearer ‘Sura’ is raising the fever. All who have been associated with ‘Sura’ so far confidently say Ilaya Thalapathi will rise again to rock.

The film is also raved for the excellent camera work by N K Ekambaram and M S Prabhu. They have captured the beauty of Tamil Nadu coastline in this action film brilliantly. Recently while shooting for ‘Sura’ at the Thoothukudi Port an amusing thing happened. As the team was in a hurry to complete the film it did not get sufficient time to take the required permissions to shoot in the high security areas of the port. The port authorities were furious and objected to shoot. But once Ilaya Thalpathi landed on the scene they were all floored. Thrilled seeing Vijay the officers were more than happy to let the team do its job and they also took photos with Vijay for memory. Such is the charisma of Vijay. ‘Sura’ was shot in places where ‘Vettaikkaran’ was shot before. So this sentiment will also see the film through.

While talking about the sentiment there is one more thing to be told. Vijay’s super hit film ‘Thirupachi’ had a temple festival kuthu song in which Vijay and Chaya Singh pulled the roof down. ‘Sura’ team wanted to have a similar type of song and made it happen in a set created at a cost of 40 lakhs in Anumondhai near Puducherry. Three Mumbai models featured along with Vijay in this super ‘kuthu’.
