Aascar Films and producer V Ravichandran has started the 'first look campaign' for his big budget Vijay entertainer Velayudham.
The mass entertainer is directed by M Raja and stars Vijay, Genelia, Hansika and Saranya Mohan in pivotal roles and Santhanam, MS Bhaskar, Sathyan, Pandirajan, Sayaji Shinde and 14 villains mainly from Mumbai. The film has music by Vijay Antony and Priyan is the cameraman.
According to a press statement issued by Aascar Films: "80 per cent of the film is complete. Vijay plays a milkman in the film, with Saranya Mohan playing his sister. Genelia is a journalist and Hansika is Vijay's love interest. There are five songs and six deadly action scenes in the film choreographed by Anal Arasu."
Velayudham is likely to release around Vijay's birthday (June 22), and the film is one of the hottest in the trade.
Vijay’s Velayudham is getting bigger as the team has roped in Hollywood stunt master Tom Delmar for the stunt choreography. Tom Delmar will be joining the cast very soon in Chennai. This big fight scene will be a highlight for the film by which Vijay will be performing mind blowing stunts under Tom’s guidance.
The climax sequence which is getting wrapped in Visakhapatnam is going on a brisk pace. Director Jayam Raja is making Velayudham in a way that the audiences go out of theaters happily after watching the film.
He is adding drama, sentiment, romance, action, comedy is there anything left, so watch out for Velayudham which is scheduled for its release on Vijay birthday.
Besides this, Vijay is going on great guns with handful of projects after the success of Kaavalan. He is busy with remake of Hindi blockbuster 3 Idiots directed by Shankar and his other prestigious project is Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan apart from director Seeman’s Pagalavan.

It has been a wonderful time for Ilaya Thalapathi post his ‘Kavalan’. The film which did a wonderful round at the box office is still attracting the younger and family crowd alike. Right now the actor is busy shooting for ‘Velayudham’ which sees triple heroines in Genelia, Hansika Motwani and Saranya Mohan.
A source close to the movie circles has revealed that director ‘Jayam’ Raja has roped in Hollywood stunt choreographer Tom Delmar for planning the stunt shots for Vijay. The ‘Kavalan’ star, who does a good job flexing his muscles is sure to have a tough schedule working under Tom for ‘Velayudham’.
With ‘Velayudham’, the Hindi blockbuster ‘3 Idiots’ remake ‘Nanban’ as well as Mani Rathnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ under his collar Vijay sure is one busy bee flying from one schedule to another. Despite facing problems prior to releasing ‘Kavalan’ the actor has proved that he can do more than just delivering punch dialogues and ‘kuthupattu’. You will sure agree with us if you have seen ‘Kavalan’ where the actor won hearts with his sober and mature portrayal.
With the success of ‘Kavalan’ the expectation is running high on Vijay but the actor has been his usual self – cool and composed. There is news doing the rounds that ‘Velayudham’ will be released on Ilaya Thalapathi’s birthday which falls in June.
Music director Vijay Antony is composing music for ‘Velayudham’, so we sure can expect some soul soothing melodies and a couple of fast numbers to please the front benchers too. With a good director, a young cast ensamble and a music director who has an appeal with the masses we sure can expect
‘Velayudham’ to work wonders with the audience!

Hansika Motwani has found a new friend and she is all smiles about it. “He is the sweetest friend I have ever had,” says the actress on Ilaya Thalapathi Vijay, with whom she is sharing the screen space in ‘Velayudham’.
“We are having a great time on the sets of ‘Velayudham’ directed by ‘Jayam’ Raja. Vijay is very co-operative and so down-to-earth,” says the actress, who is expecting three big releases in Kollywood.
Apart from ‘Velayudham’, her forthcoming movies in Tamil include the Dhanush-starrer ‘Maappillai’ and ‘Jayam’ Ravi-starrer ‘Engeyum Kadhal’ (both to be released by market leader Sun Pictures).
“It is not easy for a budding actress to bag three meaty offers even before her first release. In that case, I consider myself very lucky,” says the chirpy girl, who is a name to reckon with in Tollywood and Bollywood.

When nothing is revealed about Vijay’s ‘Velayudham’, we take a front leap bringing sensational news about his introduction shot in this movie. Guess what could be his introduction scene. It’s not too heroic, but quite a hilarious one.
It seems that Vijay pulls down the chain in a running train and is held by the railway police and Ticket Collector. He is asked whether to pay the fine or get detrained at the next station. Apparently, his folks from the same town pick out more money than the actual fine cost and beg the ticket collector not to leave him back to their town. Hah! Very funny, isn’t?

Illayathalapathy Vijay is done with shooting for 'Jeyam' Raja's Velayudham and news is that the entire movie's shooting has been wrapped up. A couple of patch up shots are what is left and Velayudham will go to the post production stage within a couple of days. Vijay has now joined Shankar's Nanban cast and crew at a colleg...e in Dehradun (Uttarakhand) where its Hindi original 3 Idiots was filmed.
Vijay, Jiiva, Srikanth, Ileana, Sathyaraj and Anuya are now present there and the major part of the movie is to be canned with them together there. With things going in a steady pace, looks like Vijay will have two releases this year and one being a multi-starrer, it certainly kindles our curiosity and interests
With Thillalangadi all ready for release this weekend, Jayam Raja is gearing up for his next project with Vijay. Though "Velayudham" was introduced to the public as Jayam Raja's first non-remake movie, the film's promos and stills have a resemblance to the Nagarjuna and Soundarya starrer "Azaad" in Telugu.
When questioned, Jayam Raja assured that Velayudham is not a remake of any movie of the past. He also informed that Velayudham, unlike Vijay's earlier movies, will not have any punch dialogues.

‘Velayudham’ is said to be an entertainer with social messages suiting Vijay's current image. Genelia is the heroine and there is also an important character that of hero's sister in the film. The sentimental sister role will be played by ‘Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu’ Saranya Mohan.

With the Vijay-starrer Kaavalkaran progressing well, the news about his next film Velayudham, which will be directed by Jayam Raja, has created a lot of expectations. There is buzz in Kollywood that this film is a remake of the Telugu film Azad, which had Nagarjuna and Soundarya playing the lead pair. Azad, industry sources say, is an action thriller and Jayam Raja intends to modify the screenplay to suit his style. It’s also learnt from reliable sources that Vijay will undergo a makeover of sorts for Velayudham.
It has to be noted that Vijay’s next, the Siddique-directed Kaavalkaran is also a remake of the popular Malayalam film Bodyguard.

Vijay is at an important cross road now. With controversies and criticisms mounting Ilaya Thalapathi has finally decided to put everything to rest and make every body happy.
As the first step Vijay has decided to release three films this year to make the theatre owners happy. Siddique's ‘Kaavalkaran’ is 60% complete and is generating good trade talk so far. ‘Jayam’ Raja is also ready for ‘Velayudham’ and there will be an official announcement next week.
Also there is news about Vijay giving his consent to do the remake of ‘3-Idiots’ in Tamil. It’s likely that Vijay will announce this at the launch function of ‘Velayudham’.

Tamil Nadu theatre owners and distributors convened an emergency meeting on May 22 in Chennai and unanimously decided to demand that Ilayathalapathi Vijay refund a portion of the money they put up for his 50th film Sura, which bombed at the box office. They wanted the actor to refund at least 40% of the amount that they had paid as MG (Minimum Guarantee).
Now the actor has replied by working on two films simultaneously: Kaavalkaran and Velayutham. Vijay is also planning to start a third film (remake of 3 Idiots) by August. Reportedly Vijay will have two heroines—Genelia and Hansika—in Velayutham and will play a fictitious man of the masses created by a female journalist. The film is rumoured to be a remake of Nagarjuna’s Telugu hit Azad (2000), which was inspired from Amitabh Bachchan’s 1989 flop Main Azad Hoon, which was again inspired from Frank Capra’s 1941 classic Meet John Doe!

After the super hit of Santosh Subramaniam (2008), which received rave reviews right from the story to the actors' performances, Genelia is back to Kollywood. She will be Ilayathalapathi Vijay's heroine in his 52nd Tamil film tentatively titled Velayudham, directed by Jayam Raja and produced by Aascar Ravichandran.
Notably, Velayudham is Genelia’s second film opposite Vijay after Sachein (2005). Apart from Genelia, Vijay will also have another heroine—Hansika. The producers are reportedly planning a grand launch for this movie at Nehru Stadium in June.
Velayudham is rumoured to be a remake of Nagarjuna’s Telugu hit Azad (2000), which was inspired from Amitabh Bachchan’s 1989 flop Main Azad Hoon. Harris Jayaraj is expected to score music for this flick.
Vijay is currently busy with his 51st film Kaavalkaran (remake of Malayalam hit Bodyguard), which marks the re-entry of Asin in South Indian cinema after a gap. Meanwhile, Genelia is currently busy with a number of Hindi movies, including It's My Life and Hook Ya Crook.
