The XIII Metropolitan Magistrate in Chennai issued summons to Sun Pictures managing director Kalanidhi Maran and director Shankar to appear before the court in person on June 24 in connection with a case filed by Tamil writer Aroor Tamilnadan aka Amudha Tamilnadan, alleging that the original story of their Enthiran (Robot) was lifted right out of his short story 'Jugiba'.
According to senior advocate K. Elangovan who represented the writer, Enthiran was based on his story Jugiba, published in Iniya Udhayam magazine in 1996.
"In this regard, we have already filed a copyright violation complaint with the-then city police commissioner T. Rajendran, but the police failed to file an FIR and insisted on deleting the name of Kalanidhi Maran from the complaint," said Elangovan. As the producer who made profit out of the movie, Maran's name should not be dropped from the complaint, Elangovan said.

Good news awaits Rajini fans even before the start of their Thalaivar’s next venture ‘Rana’. Yes, the Superstar is preparing himself for a sequel to ‘Enthiran’, his biggest blockbuster till date.
This has been revealed by none other than cinematographer Rathnavelu, who picturised ‘Enthiran’ and now getting ready to wield the camera for ‘Rana’ too. “Talks are currently on,” he says.
Shedding more light, he says, “Rajini sir, Sun Pictures, Shankar, Rahman and myself will come together for Enthiran-2 too. Most members of Enthiran team will be retained. Shankar is currently making the script ready.” Saying that the movie would go on floors once Rajini completes ‘Rana’ and Shankar completes ‘Nanban’, a remake of ‘Three Idiots’, Randy says he would soon leave for Scotland to zero in on locations for ‘Rana’.
It is said that the movie would be made on a whopping Rs 200 crore budget and would be produced by Sun Pictures, breaking their earlier record ‘Enthiran’, which was reportedly made on Rs 150 crore.
Sources have it that popular writer Jayamohan will pen dialogues for the film. ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, a fiction on Raja Raja Chola, was a highly popular novel known for its grand theme and colourful characters. It is also Superstar Rajinikanth’s favourite novel in Tamil.
Endhiran, which is touted to release in over 3000 theatres worldwide, will be released on about 30 theatres in Chennai alone.
The details of the theatres in which Endhiran will be released in Chennai are: Sathyam, Devi, Escape Cinemas, Inox, Abirami, Sangam, Albert, Udayam, Kamala, PVR Cinemas and others. The suburban theatres which will screen Endhiran are Kasi, Brindha, Thyagaraja, Devi Karumari and others. Mayajaal, which is in the suburbs will release the movie in its 60 screens while Udhayam in all its 4 screens. The new multiplex of Sathyam Cinemas, Escape will reserve 2 screens for Endhiran.
The latest buzz is that the post-production work of Endhiran is almost complete with the team looking to wrap it up in a coupe of days to facilitate release on the October 1st..

Meanwhile, buzzes are that Sun Pictures are holding talks with Studio Green Pictures to acquire the rights.When approached the closer sources of Sun Pictures, they blatantly mentioned that the production house is already occupied with lots of projects this year – Dhanush’s ‘Aadukalam’ and ‘Maapillai’, Rajnikanth starrer ‘Endhiran’, Vijay’s ‘Sura’ and so on. Sura Will be hitting April End.
But nothing has been confirmed directly from the both ends and we’ll have to wait and watch for the official confirmations pertaining to this deal. It’s worth mentioning that Studio Green Films’ producer Gnyanavel Rajan is none other than Surya’s uncle.
